Silicone Certification

Here at Cushcush, we use premium Silicone for our baby feeding wares. So, what is it exactly?

There are 2 main standards that govern silicone safety, the US FDA and Germany LFGB (there are others more, but these are the major ones).

LFGB silicone is a premium, food-grade material that’s passed Europe’s toughest safety tests. Think of it as the overachiever of silicone standards!

Meanwhile, FDA silicone meets the requirements set by the USA’s Food and Drug Administration—still solid, but less intense. Most food-safe silicone you’ll find out there is FDA-approved because it’s more affordable and widely accepted globally.

Both LFGB and FDA silicone are totally safe for human use—whether it’s for cooking, eating, or baby gear. They’ve both been vetted to keep harmful stuff out of your food or mouth. But LFGB stands out because it goes the extra mile. It’s tested more rigorously, making it the gold standard for food contact materials. That’s why it’s pricier and less common than FDA silicone.

At Cushcush, we’re all about giving your little ones the best. That’s why we use LFGB or FDA silicone for anything that touches food & mouth —think bibs, bowls, or spoons. We want that extra peace of mind for you and your family.

For other products like toys, where food contact isn’t the main gig, FDA-quality silicone works just fine. It’s still safe, durable, and perfect for playtime—without the higher cost of LFGB.

It’s our way of challenging the norm and putting your little ones first! Want to dig deeper? Check out our blog for the full scoop!
